As I mentioned in my previous post, I've opened up a current account specifically for my Doubling project that has a fantastic interest rate plus I get £50 from them as an incentive for opening it.
The only downside to this particular account (an A+L Premier Direct) is that I have to have at least £500 going into it each month or I get charged. Because my Doubling project doesn't have these sort of funds available, I had devised a way of financing this requisite, however it is taking me longer than I expected to put the arrangements in place.
Therefore for the first month (and hopefully the only month), I've had to switch to Plan B - I find it's always prudent to have a backup plan.
Plan B utilises another feature of the A+L Premier Direct account, which is the 12 month interest-free overdraft facility. A+L have kindly given me a 0% overdraft of up to £1000. So to make sure my account is credited with the required £500, I have transferred £500 of my overdraft to another bank account and back again.
Hopefully, my original idea will start moving along a little quicker and I won't have to resort to the backup plan again next month!

I've opened a bank account for my Doubling activities. It's a Premier Direct Current Account from the Alliance + Leicester and it offers fantastic 6.50% interest rate on the first £2,500 in the account.
Even better than that, when applying through it via Quidco, I earn a fantastic £50 in cashback to add to my Doubling Pot - although it will probably take a month or two to get my hands on it.
One of the requisites for opening this particular account is to transfer at least £500 into it on a monthly basis or face a £5 fee. How can I possibly achieve this with just £50 in my Doubling Pot? Stay tuned - all will revealed soon ![]()

Just a quick update today to report a tiny increase in my Doubling capital.
On Saturday, I spotted a shiny tupenny bit on the floor in one of my local pubs. It was rather crowded and I felt a bit daft bending down to pick it up! Then, the very next day, I found a further 2 pence lying on the path near my house.
I'm currently working a method to bump me up to step 15. There's still a bit of research to do, but it's looking good. It should earn me around £70 for no more than an hours work, followed by at least a tenner a month thereafter.
I'll write a website post explaining the method soon and probably give a sneak preview of it to subscribers of my newsletter even sooner ![]()

Some time ago, I set a few Squidoo Lenses while I was experimenting with The Bum Marketing Method.
I added a little advertising to some of the lenses but didn't really expect to ever earn any cash from them, so imagine my surprise when I received a PayPal money transfer from Squidoo today for $19.62 (£9.52). A very nice surprise indeed!
As the Bum Marketing was part of my Doubling Project, I added the proceeds to my Doubling stake.
My Doubling money is currently spread around various accounts. I have 44p in cash sitting in my Doubling pot, a cheque for £19.32 (actually it's for £32.50 but only £19.32 is Doubling money), £20 in my current account and £9.76 in my PayPal account. I think it's probably time to think about a permanent home for all my Doubling funds. The Report says not to use an account until Step 16, but as a lot of my Doubling money is already electronic, I think I'll have to bend that rule slightly and do it a couple of steps earlier. Putting it all in my PayPal account springs to mind but maybe I'd be better off with a bank account so that at least I can earn a little interest. Decisions, decisions!
