I recieved my weekly 'Free Money Tips' email this morning from money saving expert Martin Lewis, which publicised a new cashback credit from GE Money.
The GE Money Everyday Card offers a fantastic 3% cashback on purchases of petrol and groceries. That's a £3 return on every £100 spent on the card at supermarkets and petrol stations.
My current cashback credit card provided by Morgan Stanley only gives me 0.5%. It was 2% for the first 3 months and then 1% until I had made £2000 worth of purchases. I recieved it last November and have made around £50 in the last 6 months.
With most of my credit card purchases falling into the petrol/groceries categories, it makes perfect sense for me to apply for this card. At 3%, it's also the best value cashback card I have ever seen (thanks, Martin).
I visited the GE Money website and read through the terms and conditions and card benefits. Everthing seemed kosher, so I applied for the card. They'll let me know in a few hours if I've been accepted.
I would recommend Martin's Money Tips to everyone reading this blog. It is a great introduction to the latest and best offers in the marketplace. To sign up visit his website and fill in your email address in the box in the top-left of the page. A while ago, I wrote a review of his website for anyone that's interested.
I know it's obvious but always remember that cashback credit cards should only be used for purchases that you would have made anyway. It sort of defeats the purpose if you buy something you don't really want or need for £200 just to get the £6 cashback!
